Plymouth man accused of leading police on pursuit, one woman injured following crash

PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Thursday at 3:45 a.m. on a 2011 Ford Fusion on State Road 17 near Glenn Overmyer Drive, but the vehicle failed to stop, according to the Plymouth Police Department.

The driver of the Fusion, 33-year-old Brett Kersey of Plymouth, fled south on State Road 17 in the direction of Culver, according to officials.

Police say that Kersey reached speeds of 115 piles-per-hour.

Kersey reportedly lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of State Road 17 and Sycamore Road, and crashed west of Sycamore Road.

Initial investigation revealed that Kersey was driving while intoxicated.

A female passenger in the vehicle was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment.

Kersey has been arrested on the charges of OWI - Endangering, Reckless Driving and Resisting Law Enforcement.

He is currently being held at the Marshall County Jail.
