Penn spellers recognized for 12th state title

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Some Penn High School students are being recognized for their ability to spell.

The Spell Bowl team won its 12th State Title earlier this month.

The beat out the competition at Purdue University in West Lafayette.

On Wednesday afternoon, the star spellers and their parents gathered at Penn High School for a celebration.

"It feels especially nice for all of the seniors," said Spell Bowl Captain Leah Hershberger. "For the seniors, to go out with a state championship was a very prideful moment for us."

Penn High School staff and other students also showed up to show their support.
