UPDATE: Pedestrian suffers head injury after being struck by Interurban Trolley, investigation ongoing

UPDATE: EPD says the 911 call came in around 6:32 a.m. Tuesday regarding a collision with injuries.

Officers' Initial investigation determined an interurban trolley bus traveling north on Main Street was turning west onto W. Jackson Boulevard when it struck a pedestrian, identified as a 55-year-old woman.

The woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of her injuries, including a head injury.

Police say she was in stable condition at last check.

The woman who was driving the trolley remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

The investigation is ongoing

ORIGINAL STORY: ELKHART, Ind. -- A woman was sent to the hospital after getting struck by an Interurban Trolley in Elkhart. 

The Elkhart Police Department were called out to the intersection of East Jackson Boulevard and North Main Street just after 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday Morning for the incident. 

Police said a female was hit by the Interurban Trolley and was sent to the hospital for an evaluation and treatment for their injuries. 

Elkhart City Dispatch said that officials cleared the scene shortly after 7 a.m.
