UPDATE: EPD investigating weekend shooting that left 53-year-old injured

UPDATE: The Elkhart Police Depart reports officers responded to the 700 block of Monroe Street near the River Run Apartment complex Sunday evening after dispatch received a call around 8:16 p.m. regarding shots fired.
Officers arrived to find a 53-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in the 600 block of Middlebury Street.
Medics on scene aided the man before taking him to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, officers found several parked vehicles with apparent gunfire damage in the 700 block of Monroe Street.
Police say this remains an active and on-going investigation.
At this time, no arrests have been made.

ORIGINAL STORY: ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Middlebury Street in Elkhart. The call came in at approximately 8:15 p.m.
