UPDATE: Shooting leaves 19-year-old dead, homicide unit investigating
ABC57 UPDATE: The Elkhart Police Department reports a 911 call came in just before 8 a.m., Monday, for a shooting in the 2600 black of Morton Avenue.
Officers arrived to find a 19-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds just outside a residence.
Despite life-saving measures being performed, the victim was pronounced dead on scene.
The victim's name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
The Elkhart County Homicide Unit was activated and is handling this investigation.
Police say no arrests have been made, and this remains an ongoing investigation.
Authorities believe this to be an isolated incident and there is believed to be no further danger to the public.
