UPDATE: Juvenile dead in Michigan City shooting

UPDATE: Police say a juvenile passed away after being shot.

14-year-old Michigan City resident Devin Porter suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound. 

Officers provided life saving measures to Porter before he would be transported to Franciscan Health Hospital and die from his injures. 

This is an ongoing investigation.

The Michigan City Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident, has any additional information, or has video surveillance/cell phone video of this incident, to contact Detectives Kay Pliske or Brock Moore.

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- One individual is injured near the 300 block of West 11th Street in Michigan City. 

Michigan City Police responded to a shooting at approximately 4:30 p.m. near the 300 block of W. 11th Street. One individual was injured. The incident is under active investigation at this time. There is no known ongoing threat to the community, and we will provide updates if additional information becomes available.
