One dead in Elkhart shooting
ELKHART, Ind. – One person has died following a shooting in Elkhart Thursday night, the Elkhart Police Department reported.
At 8:56 p.m., officers were called to the 600 block of Cleveland Ave. for reports of a shooting with injuries.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a 28-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds.
The victim, Deontae Harris, was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Officers secured the scene and called in the Elkhart County Homicide Unit to investigate.
There is no immediate threat to public safety.
No arrests have been made at this time.
