PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- There's plenty of booths across the Blueberry Festival, but as they say at one booth, "Don't make a mistake, get your blueberry cheesecake."

A Haitian accent heard among the packed crowds at the Marshall County Blueberry Festival.

The lines caused the register to be constantly busy, but it's their mission that is unique. Both their blueberry cheesecake and their local sponsors are part of an initiative to bring classrooms to Haiti.

"In a community that hasn't seen that a lot in Haiti, so a lot of kids are graduating from elementary school, high school and even sometimes go to universities," said Loundia Helser, the daughter of World Mission 61 founders.

Started way back by John Reid, Loundia Hesler's great grandfather ran an orphanage named Reid Boys Home.

Then his granddaughter and her husband created World Mission 61.

Their first school in Desarmes, Haiti now serves 120 students in education, biblical principles, and two meals per week.

"A lot of people get to experience the cheesecake and also help in the mission that's way bigger than all of us," Hesler said.

This great cause, just one of many things featured at the festival including live music and even silly animal shows, but the unassuming cheesecake, keeps those at this booth busy.

The real big question is how it tastes, with some differing opinions.

"It's pretty good if only there's a little bit more blueberry it would be a 10 out of 10," said Zoey Brewer.

"it's very good. Creamy. Lots of blueberries. I would definitely recommend it," said Brian Woods.

There is a bountiful amount of things to do whether vendors whether rides or even berry-licious desserts that they have. There’s plenty of options for anybody whether it’s berries or not. Tomorrow what’s even more exciting they’re bringing some pony rides for the kids throughout the afternoon to enjoy and get a taste of the fair.
