Notre Dame Vs. New Mexico: September 14, 2019

SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Notre Dame's home opener against New Mexico is underway, as the Irish hope to improve from last and win in dominant fashion. 

Both teams are 1-0 and they are both coming off a bye week. The Irish won their season opener against Louisville, 35-17.

Former Notre Dame Head Coach Bob Davie coaches the Lobos (New Mexico), and he was expected to make his return to South Bend on Saturday. However, Davie experienced a "serious medical incident" which sidelined him from the game.

Scoring Updates/Final Results:

Notre Dame scores first after 34-yard pick-six by Freshman Defensive Back Kyle Hamilton. Irish lead 7-0.

Notre Dame leads after the First Quarter, 7-0.

Quaterback Ian Book scores on a 1-yard touchdown run, expanding Notre Dame's lead to 14-0.

The lead increases to 21-0 in favor of the Irish after a 59-yard touchdown pass from Ian book to Avery Davis.

Notre Dame scores again on a 64-yard pass from Ian Book to Javon Mckinley. Notre Dame up 28-0.

Notre Dame now has a substantial lead of 35-0 after a 37-yard touchdown pass by Ian Book to Chase Clayppol.

New Mexico is now on the board after a 47-yard run by Bryson Carroll. Irish still lead, 35-7.

Notre Dame kicks a 36-yard field goal as the first half comes to a close. Notre Dame up 38-7.

Notre Dame opens up the second half with a touchdown. Ian Book passes to Chris Fink for 54 yards. Notre Dame leads 45-7.

Javon Mckinley catches his 2 touchdown pass of the day to put the Irish up 52-7.

The third quarter ends with Notre Dame leading 52-7.

C'Bo Flemister scores on a 1-yard touchdown run, increasing Notre Dame's lead to 59-7.

Notre Dame adds yet another score. Quarterback Brendon Clark throws a 22-yard touchdown pass to Braden Lenzy. Irish, 66-7.

Lobos score on 37-yard run from Bobby Cole. Irish remain in control, 66-14.

Irish win the game by a final score of 66-14.
