Notre Dame outlast Dartmouth 77-65
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Irish earn consecutive wins without star point guard Markus Burton, behind Sophomore Braeden Shrewsberry's hot hand.
The game plan was simple for the Irish. Get to the pain and score.
"That's really it. That's just get inside the paint. Finish. That's what we did tonight. Paint touches," Small Forward Tae Davis said.
As a team, Notre Dame abused Dartmouth in the paint, scoring 46 of their 77 under the basket.
"Until they adjust, we're going to keep, you know, keep doing the same thing. If it's not broken, don't fix it," Graduate Point Guard Matt Allocco said.
"Tae had it going tonight, so we're going to keep feeding him," Allocco added.
Davis scored 20 points and earned his first double-double with 10 rebounds.
"We wanted to really be inside out in what we did. We wanted to get paint touches. We wanted to get to the rim. If we were getting threes. They were kick out threes from those paint touches when those guys were turning their heads," Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry added.
When Dartmouth turned their heads, Braeden Shrewsberry lit them up.
"He's obviously very confident, as he should be. He's shooting the heck out of the ball and it's fun to watch. It's fun to be a part of. Makes my job easy, you know, because I can find him," Allocco said.
Shrewsberry had a team high 22 points, 4 for 9 from three, and now has seven consecutive games scoring in double-digits.
"The thing I'm proud about his last two games, he's been efficient. He's been efficient in how he scored and you know that that's been a product of cleaning up some things offensively for all of us, but some of his teammates really finding him and getting to some open shots," Shrewsberry mentioned.
Next game for the Irish is December 22nd versus Le Moyne College.
