SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame earned 25 commitments on signing day, bringing in the sons of former NFL players and big-time recruits down to the final hour.

Before the signing period concluded, Notre Dame knew they would have 24 commits. But there was one final addition rounding out the class, that came just minutes before Marcus Freeman addressed the media on his new class.

Madden Faraimo, a 6'2, 225 pound 4-star Linebacker from California, put a smile on Freeman's face Wednesday afternoon.

"It's been a really good morning. Just got a call about 10, 15 minutes ago as we were coming over here that Madden Faraimo, his papers just came in and he signed. So that was a huge get for us that obviously came down to the last minute," Freeman said.

Faraimo rounds out 14 of the defensive players committed to Notre Dame in his class (2025) and the third linebacker.

"The rest of this class, who we feel very strongly about, we kind of knew, obviously, that they were going to sign, but Madden was a guy that came down to the last minute, and it just came in officially," Freeman added.

Notre Dame's staff didn't have to worry about those close calls for the rest of the class. Specifically, the offense, filled with talent, who's fathers played in NFL and for the Irish.

We've had the pleasure of seeing the son's of former players on the team this year. Jordan Clark (Son of former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back, Ryan Clark) and Kennedy Urlacher (Son of former Chicago Bears linebacker, Brian Urlacher).

This recruiting class brought in three more. Elijas Burress (WR), son of former NFL receiver Plaxico Burress. James Flanigan (TE), son of Jim Flanigan Sr . Jerome Bettis Jr (WR), son of former Steelers and Notre Dame running back Jerome Bettis Sr, also known as "The Bus".

Each guy, being exactly what Freeman and his staff were looking for, to continue bringing in quality offensive players.

"I think for us, we were looking for speed. We got that, obviously, with Scrap Richardson and Elijah Burress and Jerome Bettis (Jr). We're looking for speed but also really good football players. That's what we feel like we got with this class in wide outs, and again, we're extremely happy about it, and we'll continue to recruit wide outs at a high level," Freeman mentioned.

Of the 25 recruits, 13 are early enrollees. The other 12 will join the team in the summer of 2025.
