Notre Dame men's soccer team looks to build on past success
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- With their season just around the corner, the Notre Dame men's soccer team is hoping to build on past success.
This season's roster boasts many experience and returning talent. Last season, the team went to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
After three pre-season games, the team is preparing for an August 20 clash against the 22nd ranked Hoosiers in Bloomington for their first official game of the season.
"I think we always try to open up with a strong game, and I think Indiana, obviously, is a strong program and a strong team year-in and year-out," says head coach Chad Riley. "So I think a lot of it's about that first, you know, knowing a performance is different than training, right? It's like, okay, it's out there, it's a performance mindset. You've got to get on with things if it's not perfect. It's not going to be perfect tomorrow but we do really compete at a good level and just react well to whatever's happened in the game."
The team's first home game of the regular season will be August 23 against Northwestern. That game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
