SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- As head coach Micah Shrewsberry said a couple weeks ago, the season from hell continues. Notre Dame now falls 4-13 in ACC play after suffering an 86-78 loss to Stanford.
The Cardinal came into South Bend playing confident basketball and showed it early, building a lead early behind sharp shooting and strong guard play.
Notre Dame tried to battle back in the second half, but every time the Irish made a push, Stanford's backcourt kept answering.
"I thought our focus sucked, I thought our discipline sucked, I thought our awareness sucked,” Shewsberry said. “When your back's against the wall, you gotta come out and be better than that and we weren't."
The loss now drops Notre Dame to a 13-17 overall record as the Irish turn to their final game of the season, facing Boston College on Saturday.
