ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—The University of Notre Dame announced on Thursday that it will now require guests attending reserved-ticket events to use walk-through metal detectors at the gates of Notre Dame Stadium beginning with the 2019 football season.

Metal detectors will be used at all home football games, men’s and women’s basketball games in Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center and hockey games at Compton Family Ice Arena.

The first home football game is scheduled for September 14.

Attendees will not be required to remove belts, cell phones, coins, jackets, jewelry, watches, wallets, shoes or other small objects.

Last season, the school adopted a clear bag policy for home events. Guests entering with bags must have them checked.
