BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An 18-year-old man is dead after a double shooting at a Benton Township convenience store Saturday night.
According to the Benton Township Police Department, the suspected vehicle is possibly a Black Chevy Sudan or Malibu.
They say three Black men were driving on S. Fair Ave. at 8:30 p.m. when they fired into a crowd outside the Quick Way Party Store.
The shots hit those two 18-year-olds, one of whom died after being taken to Lakeland Hospital, while the other was released after being treated for a gunshot wound to his arm.
Benton Township police said in their press release that there were multiple witnesses, but none were willing to make a statement.
Police Chief Brian Smit declined our request to speak on-camera, but did ask for anyone with information to reach out anonymously through calling the department at 269-925-1135 or Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
ABC57 also asked for comment from the township supervisor, Berrien County commissioners for this district and some community activists – all of whom either declined or didn’t respond.
