No. 20 Notre Dame women roll past Bellarmine 110-38 as Hidalgo posts triple-double
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — No. 20 Notre Dame put on a show at Purcell Pavilion on Sunday, blowing out Bellarmine 110-38. The 72-point win was the Irish’s biggest victory of the season.
Hannah Hidalgo led the way with 30 points and a triple-double in just 22 minutes. The guard shot 13 of 17 from the field and finished with 10 assists, five rebounds and 13 steals.
Notre Dame said it was Hidalgo’s second career triple-double. Her 30-point triple-double was also the first of its kind in program history. Hidalgo also set a Notre Dame record for the most career games with 30 or more points.
The Irish had help up and down the lineup. Six players scored in double figures. Cassandre Prosper posted a double-double with 20 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Gisela Sanchez added a double-double of her own with 17 points — a season high — and 10 rebounds.
Notre Dame finished with 28 team steals. It was the third time this season the Irish had 20 or more steals in a game.
“I’m super grateful to always be on the court,” Hidalgo said. “I thank God every day for the ability to play the game of basketball. But I think we are just really excited to get home for Christmas, so I know we just gave it our all today and we just got to do that every day.”
With the win, Notre Dame improves to 9-2, winning 24 straight games against unranked teams. Head coach Niele Ivey said the performance showed the team’s identity as relentless.
