MAC cancels 2020 season due to COVID-19

The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has canceled their fall college football season due to concerns about the health and safety of players during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 12 member league is the first Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conference to decide not to play this fall.

MAC does intend on attempting to play a football season in spring 2021.

MAC’s Western Michigan University was originally scheduled to play against Notre Dame on September 19, 2020. Notre Dame was supposed to host Western Michigan in its lone ACC nonconference game.

Along with Western Michigan, the MAC also consists of Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois, Ohio and Toledo.
