Niles man in hospital after shooting at party

MILTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A Niles man is in the hospital after being shot in Milton Township on Saturday. Cass County Sheriff deputies were called by Lakeland Niles Hospital about it treating a man with a gunshot wound around 3:20 a.m.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the victim was taken to the hospital from the 33000 block of Bertrand Street.

Investigators say the victim was at a party when a fight started.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses say one of the people in the fight pulled a handgun and started shooting.

It’s believed the victim and the shooter know each other.

The suspect has not been found, but investigators say there is no danger to the public.
