La Porte Sheriff’s Office investigating suspicious site and items
HANNA, Ind. – La Porte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious site and items in Hanna Township, the office announced in a Facebook post Friday.
On Thursday, May 21st off-duty Sergeant Tony Wallace was alerted to a suspicious site and items that had been found on private property in the 5000 west block of Volk Road.
According to officials, the suspicious site was a hole that was approximately three feet wide, ten feet long and approximately two feet deep.
The hole was just east of the Richman Ditch in a small wooded area.
Clothing and a shovel were located near the hole.
A K-9 that is trained to conduct search rescue operations was brought in to assist but did not provide any positive alerts at or around the site and area.
The Hanna Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted police in the matter.
