STARKE COUNTY, Ind. – A new veterans war memorial plaza had its dedication ceremony on this Veteran’s Day. The plaza is located on the southeast corner of the county courthouse square in Knox.
There were over 100 people in attendance as the dedication got underway on Wednesday.
Veterans got together to raise the colors of the American flag and those of all five branches of the armed services.
During the ceremony, the names of all 100 fallen soldiers from the county were read aloud with a bell toll after each one.
“God bless the memory of our fallen. God bless the families and friends of our fallen. God bless the United States,” said Jeff Berg, Knox City Council President.
The plaza features ADA accessibility as well as seating for those that just need some time to sit and reflect.
