New Prairie Baseball Team shares update on Lucas Bradshaw

New Prairie High School Baseball Team

NEW CARLISLE, Ind. -- The New Prairie High School Baseball Team has posted an update on the condition of 16-year-old Lucas Bradshaw, who was severely injured and airlifted to the hospital, after a box truck collided with a commercial vehicle and two buses carrying the New Prairie JV Baseball Team May 8.

In a social media post, New Prairie Baseball Team shared an update from Lucas's mother, Kelley, stating:

Lucas continues to make baby step improvements. Here are a few highlights from the last week here at Mary Free Bed:
Eating/crunching on ice chips
He is not a fan of the no sugar added applesauce
Lucas has enjoyed our trips outside for fresh air
Physical and occupational therapy have him stretching, practicing sitting on the edge of the bed, standing (very assisted!), and overall building back his core muscles.
While Lucas is still not awake, we are getting some responses from him using thumbs up/down. While his answers are not always accurate or even gives a response, this is a step in the right direction. Lucas has been good about powering through PT and OT, even when he is clearly exhausted. The staff at Mary Free Bed is happy with his progress. I am excited to see what is to come for Lucas!
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and love.

Kelley❤️

Updates on his condition have been posted here and over 80,000 dollars have been raised through this go fund me.
