New Jersey man arrested on Toll Road with four kilos of cocaine
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Fifty-three-year-old Juan Aquino was sentenced to six and a half years in prison this week after he was pulled over on the Indiana Toll Road with four kilograms of cocaine hidden in the vehicle.
Aquino, of Elizabeth, N.J., was sentenced after pleading guilty to Possessing with Intent to Distribute 500 or more grams of cocaine.
According to documents in the case, in December 2023 Aquino obtained four kilograms of cocaine from Colorado and was taking it back to New Jersey in hidden vehicle compartments when he was stopped.
"At the time of the offense, Aquino was on court release awaiting the start of a 63-month term of federal imprisonment for distributing fentanyl and conspiring to distribute fentanyl," authorities said.
He was sentenced to 78 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release.
