ELKHART, Ind. -- The National New York Central Railroad Museum is set to make some cosmetic upgrades that will further enhance your next visit!
The museum has dedicated to preserving the New York Central Railroad History since its opening in 1987.
It's furthering those efforts with repairs, including a brand-new roof and walkway installed on the wooden caboose that sits outside the museum.
Some of the railroad tracks surrounding the museum will also be relayed and repaired.
The NIBCO Century Flyer is the train kids and families ride on when they visit, and it will be totally cosmetically restored this fall.
All of these upgrades are made possible by donations and grants from local businesses and community members.
Friends of the National New York Central Railroad Museum is a charitable organization that financially supports the museum; it plans to host a fundraiser on August 26th to raise money to repair three old historic railcars as well.
The fundraiser is called 'Rockin' on the Rails', and you can find more information on how you can get involved here!
