Muck fire extinguished in St. Joseph County

ST. JOSEPH CO., Ind. -- Dispatchers now say that a muck fire in St. Joseph County is out.
The fire started on Tuesday afternoon in a farmer's field off of Cleveland and Currant Roads in Granger.
Muck fires burn underground.
At one point on Tuesday, firefighters said it created 15 to 20 separate spot fires.
Luckily, they were able to get it under control.
Sometimes muck fires can burn for several days.
