Motorcyclist killed in Lincoln Township hit and run crash

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich.—A 40-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a hit and run crash in Lincoln Township on August 3, according to the Lincoln Township Police Department.

On August 3 around 9:33 p.m., the Lincoln Township Police Department was called to a hit and run crash involving a motorcycle and a car at the corner of Glenlord and Michelle.

When officers arrived, they learned that a 40-year-old Lincoln Township man who was operating a motorcycle had been pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, reports said.

Witnesses told police that a car was also involved in the crash but had already left the scene.

The car was located a couple of blocks away and its 24-year-old driver was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated and failure to stop at an accident causing death, police said.

According to police, the car's driver sustained minor injuries and alcohol played a role in the crash.

Investigation findings showed that the car turned into the motorcycle’s path of travel, police said.

The crash remains under investigation and police have not released either drivers’ identities.
