Mishawaka teen accused of stabbing mother and dogs appears in court
MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The Mishawaka teen accused of stabbing his mother and two dogs appeared in court today.
Caden Rutledge is accused of stabbing his mother many times last Friday morning.
Police responded to a 911 call at about 5:30 that morning on Oakside Road.
Investigators say the mother was stabbed 13 times and was rushed to the hospital, where she is now listed in stable condition.
They say Rutledge also stabbed two dogs. They are also in stable condition.
He is being charged as an adult and he faces several felony counts, including attempted murder, aggravated battery, and two charges of torturing an animal.
After he was booked into jail, police say Rutledge was hostile and violent, injuring two jail staff who were taken to the emergency room with minor injuries.
