Mishawaka man sentenced to over 8 years for being felon in possession of firearm

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - A Mishawaka man was sentenced to over eight years in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection to an October 2022 case, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Damone McFerren, 28, was given eight years and six months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

The sentencing stems from a verbal argument in October of 2022, where McFerren fired three gunshots at another person inside a South Bend home, according to police.

At the time of the incident, McFerren was on federal supervised release for a felony drug conviction. That and other previous convictions prevented him from having a firearm.
