Midwest Continental Divide Trail project to host open houses

SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Midwest Continental Divide Trail project is set to host a series of public sessions through the month of July to receive community input on plans to make Saint Joseph County's continental divide into an outdoor recreation and ecotourism destination.
These public sessions are set as an open house for the public, where they can learn about the project and provide input.
Listed below are the dates, times, and locations of the open houses:
•Tuesday, July 15, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Rum Village Nature Center 2626 S Gertrude Street, South Bend
•Tuesday, July 15, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Lakeville Community Center 214 W Patterson Street, Lakeville
•Wednesday, July 16, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
North Liberty Community Building 300 S Main Street, North Liberty
•Thursday, July 17, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Indiana Dinosaur Museum 7102 Lincolnway W Hwy, South Bend
"Major state funding has been committed to developing a trail along our continental divide, transforming this natural gem into a destination that rivals any national park experience," said Shawn Peterson, a consultant for the trail project.
Peterson goes on to say, "Community voices and vision shape the future of the Midwest Continental Divide Trail because the best ideas come from those who know and love this land. These sessions are designed to ensure residents have meaningful input in developing this transformative project."
