THREE RIVERS, Mich. -- American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM), a Michigan company that makes parts for cars and trucks, plans to upgrade its Three Rivers factory in St. Joseph County. The company will get a five-year, 100% tax break from the state, worth about $978,960, to help pay for the improvements.

AAM is the largest employer of union workers in St. Joseph County. The company will invest up to $132.9 million in the Three Rivers plant. The investment will help keep jobs in Michigan and make sure the facility can stay competitive and bring in new contracts.

“AAM’s $132.9 million investment in Three Rivers is great news for Southwest Michigan,” said Jonas Peterson, CEO of Southwest Michigan First. “This will help the plant and community succeed for years to come. Making Three Rivers a Center of Excellence shows the talent and skill of our local workers. We appreciate AAM’s ongoing investment in people, innovation and the community.”
