Michigan Delegates react to former President Barack Obama's DNC Keynote Speech
CHICAGO -- The Michigan Delegation had strong reaction as Former President Barack Obama took the stage as the keynote speaker on night two of the Democratic National Convention.
Michigan Delegate and Berrien County Democratic Party Chair Amy Scrima shared in the same excitement for Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Possibilities right opportunity engagement. It will feel like what they do matters. That’s the energy she’s bringing already to the party," stated Scrima.
Despite being under complete Democratic leadership, Michigan is still one of the handful of states expected to decide the election.
"We still have to make sure to finish the job when it comes to making Kamala Harris, the next president and Tim Walz the next Vice President. In order to do that, they have to win the state of Michigan. We’ve seen new energy. We’ve seen thousands of new people registered to vote since she became the Democratic ticket," stated Lt. Governor Gilchrist.
Gilchrist continued, "We need to make sure all those people turn out. We need to make sure all of those people obviously understand what’s at stake in this election. So, we have to make sure they come out and vote. We need to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and hold onto our trifecta at the statehouse. And the election is still on the table here in November so that’s what we gotta do."
