Michiana Five for the Homeless hosting annual blanket drive

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.--- MIchiana Five for the homeless is hosting its fourth annual winter blanket drive Saturday. The nonprofit will be collecting blankets from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Barnaby's in Mishawaka and on the corner of Ewing and Miami Street in South Bend.

Last year, the nonprofit raised over 1,000 blankets to give out to the homeless for the winter. This year, Michiana Five for the Homeless is looking to raise even more.

Organizers say that rise in demand is due to the construction closing the St. Joseph County Public Library. For much of the day this winter, St. Joseph County's Homeless population will not have any place to get warm.

Michiana Five is asking that those who want to donate bring in new or gently used blankets to the two collection sites.
