BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich.—United States Representative for Michigan’s 6th congressional district, Fred Upton, announced on Thursday that the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has been awarded a $20 million discretionary grant to complete the US-31 relocation project.
“Completing this project will ensure Southwest Michigan remains a hub for economic competitiveness, jobs, and growth, now and into the future,” Upton said.
Following the completion of the last two miles of US-31, the relocation project will provide a free flow freeway traffic movement from Napier Avenue to I-94 in Berrien County.
The grant comes from the Department of Transportation (DOT) Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants program.
