UPDATE: Police say the victim of the shooting has been identified as 41-year-old Jeffery Snyder 41, of Mishawaka, and the suspect in custody is 48-year-old Joshua Michael Peacock, also of Mishawaka.
On Nov. 29, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Peacock with one count of Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, a Level 5 Felony.
ORIGINAL: MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Police Department reports officers responded to an apartment unit at 4544 Hickory Rd. around 7:07 a.m., Wednesday, for a reported shooting.
The man who called police said he'd been shot, and the shooter was still on scene.
The report states one man was found to have been shot in the chest.
The victim was then taken to the hospital for treatment and was last known to be in stable condition according to police.
Another man in the apartment, identified as Joshua Peacock, was then taken into custody.
Peacock was then taken to MPD to be interviewed.
Police say the shooting was isolated to the apartment.
Peacock will be taken to The St. Joseph County Jail on the preliminary charge of Aggravated Battery.
Police say the final charging decision for Peacock will be with the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.
The Major Crimes Unit of the MPD is investigating.
