Man shot in the buttocks

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Dana Hayden heard someone yelling that they had been shot.

“He said, 'You shot me, you shot me, I can’t believe that you shot me,'” said Dana Hayden.

Hayden immediately called 9-1-1 for help.

“We heard three shots first, three pops,” she said.

Police identified 57-year-old John Kuskye as the shooter.

They said he shot his 25-year-old daughter’s boyfriend, 53-year-old Edward Schaefer, in the buttocks.

"I don’t mean to sound horrible but it was kind of comical seeing this guy hopping around holding his rear end," said Hayden.

Police took Kuskye into custody on charges of aggravated battery and criminal recklessness.

Hayden said he’s always been a nice, quiet neighbor.

"My neighbor's a quiet guy, he doesn’t bother anybody."

Not all neighbors feel the same way, especially parents.

"I’m freaking out cause as a new parent, I want my daughter to be raised in a safe environment," said Kaylee Edwards who lives just across the street.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
