Man and woman found shot inside vehicle on Division Street, one person detained

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- One person is suffered critical injuries while another was found dead after a shooting at Division Street and Lawrence Street Wednesday morning.

Dispatch says they received a 911 call around 2 a.m. reporting gunshots fired in the area.

Police responded to the 700 block of Division Street around to find a man and woman with gunshot wounds inside a silver Chevy Impala.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police say one person has been detained for questioning.

Authorities were seen conducting extensive searches of the area surrounding the homes on the corner of Division and Lawrence Streets.

Officials want the community to understand this is an isolated incident and there’s no current danger to the community.
