UPDATE: Authorities are now releasing the name of the woman who was shot and killed on Division Street in South Bend early Wednesday morning. 

The victim deceased female victim was 23-year-old Asia Phillip. The male victim is a 23-year-old male did undergo surgery but is currently listed in stable condition.

"Detained at the original scene was 45-year-old Narles Brown Sr," authorities said. "Narles Brown Sr. was interviewed at the Mishawaka Police Dept. by detectives with the Major Crimes Unit. Narles Brown Sr. was formally charged by the Prosecutor’s Office of Saint Joseph County for the Murder of Asia Phillip and Attempted Murder of  [the male]. Narles Brown Sr. was also charged with Firearm Enhancement."

An autopsy for Asia Phillips is scheduled for Feb. 27 in Kalamazoo, Mich. and there is not a further threat to the community from this incident.

ORIGINAL: MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- One person is suffered critical injuries while another was found dead after a shooting at Division Street and Lawrence Street Wednesday morning.

Dispatch says they received a 911 call around 2 a.m. reporting gunshots fired in the area.

Police responded to the 700 block of Division Street around to find a man and woman with gunshot wounds inside a silver Chevy Impala.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police say one person has been detained for questioning.

Authorities were seen conducting extensive searches of the area surrounding the homes on the corner of Division and Lawrence Streets.

Officials want the community to understand this is an isolated incident and there’s no current danger to the community.
