ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department confirmed officers are actively investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday at approximately 9:02 p.m. in the area of the 600 block of East Windsor Avenue and C.R. 9. 

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound.

Elkhart Fire Department Medics transported the victim to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.

There is no update on the male's condition at this time. 

Officers detained an individual in connection with the ongoing investigation. 

The Elkhart Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident and there is no further danger to the public.
