SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The 9th annual 'Locked in Solidarity' event took place at the Beacon Resource Center this afternoon, focusing on interrupting violence as this year's theme.

Five organizations came to discuss how they are interrupting violence in the South Bend community.

Those who attended were Mental Health Awareness of Michiana, Restorative Justice Collaborative Hub, Group Violence Intervention, South Bend Alive Grant Program, and The Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Indiana Corridor.

"The practitioners and organizations that are here are going to talk about how their organizations are interrupting violence in our community, and that's in all its forms, whether that's physical, emotional, psychological, South Bend suffers greatly by harm in many of these aspects. So these organizations are going to just educate us and how the community can get involved and learn about what's happening in our community," stated The Executive Director at the Beacon Resource Center Jeff Walker.

This event is a part of a national initiative by the Christian Community Development Association, all to help put an end to violence around the United States.
