ST. JOSPEH COUNTY, Ind. -- More than 90 leaders with Faith in St. Joe County, Indiana traveled to Indianapolis by bus on Saturday to join a rally for the "A Call for Care Campaign".
The campaign is an effort to encourage Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb to fully fund Senate Bill 1, a bill which would develop a statewide crisis response system.
This system would be a go-to resource for those struggling with substance abuse.
The bus launch took place at 1st methodist United Church around 8:45 a.m., and the group heard from South Bend Mayor James Mueller, Senator David Neizgodski and more before making the trek to Indianapolis.
Mayor Mueller described the event as an exciting day, saying that the community was moving a step closer to making mental health resource services a reality.
"Mental health, public health is not a partisan issue. It's not a Democrat or Republican issue. It's a human issue." said Mueller.
