Local elementary school without power Thursday, students to stay in class

BUCHANAN, Mich. -- Moccasin Elementary School in Buchanan is without power this afternoon, but students will stay in school until the regularly scheduled pick up time at 3:48 p.m.
The local utility company has informed school officials that the power is expected to be back on at 5 p.m.
From Buchanan Community School Superintendent Patricia Robinson:
Dear Moccasin Families,
We want to inform you that Moccasin Elementary is currently experiencing a power outage. According to the utility company, power is expected to be restored by approximately 5 p.m.
We will be keeping students at school for the remainder of the day, and dismissal will take place at the normal time of 3:48 p.m. If you would prefer to pick up your child early, you are welcome to do so by checking in at the school office.
Please note that Moccasin's phone lines are also down at this time due to the outage. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this unexpected situation.
