Local business donates washers to Humane Society of St. Jospeh County

Humane Society of St. Jospeh County

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- In late August, one of the two industrial washers at the Humane Society of St. Joseph County completely shut down while the remaining unit was nearing failure.

With nearly 400 animals in care at any given time and ongoing operational needs, reliable laundry services are essential to maintaining animal health, sanitation, and safe shelter operations.

The Humane Society reached out to Burton’s Laundry, where owner Dave Nufer immediately stepped forward to help. While new commercial laundry equipment requires several months to manufacture and deliver, Nufer committed to donating two brand-new washers and professional installation at no cost once the equipment was ready.

Burton’s Laundry also opened its locations to the Humane Society for free laundry use, ensuring uninterrupted care for the animals.

The new equipment has now arrived and is installed.

Dexter Laundry, the manufacturer of the donated equipment, also played a key role in making the donation possible.
