Lincoln Charter Township responds to multiple crashes due to dangerous winter conditions
Lincoln Charter Township Firefighters STEVENSVILLE, Mich. -- Lincoln Charter Township Firefighters confirmed over the past 24 hours they responded to multiple motor vehicle crashes due to winter conditions.
On Sunday evening firefighters were dispatched to three separate crashes involving multiple vehicles. One of the crashes required an extrication and firefighters safely removed two occupants who were trapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters worked efficiently to create access and remove both patients. Both individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The crews were able to respond out of the station in under a minute. Firefighters were the first on scene. This allowed crews to provide a quick extraction, rather than the occupants waiting 10 to 15 minutes for the firefighters to arrive.
Crews also responded to a jackknifed semi on I-94, which created significant traffic hazards due to snow covered and icy conditions.
Winter weather can quickly create dangerous travel situations including reduced visibility, drifting snow, and icy roadways significantly increase stopping distances and the likelihood of crashes.
Lincoln Charter Township stated personnel train regularly on vehicle stabilization, extrication techniques, and large vehicle incidents to ensure they are prepared when these emergencies occur.
Lincoln Charter Township advise drivers slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time to reach your destination during winter weather events.
