ELKHART, Ind. -- The Lerner Theater will host the finale of the Oaklawn’s Got Talent competition on Friday at 7 p.m. where four local acts will compete to win the $4,000 grand prize.

Nearly 30 acts initially auditioned for the competition at the Learner Theater in November before a panel of judges cut down the number of acts to the four finalist who will compete on Friday.

Finalists are singer-songwriter Abbie Thomas, illusionist Kevin Long, singers-songwriters Marcus and Marketo, and the Epic Dance Company. The audience will vote to determine who wins.

“Coming back, we wanted something new and fresh, but also something that would feature talent from right here in our community. This way, we can spotlight and award local talent while also funding mental health and addiction services,” said Kari Tarman, Executive Director of the Oaklawn Foundation.

Oaklawn’s Got Talent has replaced Oaklawn’s Spring Spectacular, the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser which ran for more than 20 years and has been cancelled the past two years due to COVID-19.

Tickets for Friday’s Oaklawn’s Got Talent event cost $10 and are available at the Lerner Box Office online portal, by calling 574-293-4469, or in person at 410 S. Main St., Elkhart.

All proceeds will go toward assisting local mental health and addiction treatment services.
