LaPorte boy shot in the eye with BB gun

LAPORTE, Ind. -- LaPorte Police say a 10-year-old boy was shot in the eye with a BB gun.

Police were called to IU Health LaPorte Hospital around noon on Monday where the boy was being treated.

The boy's mother said her son and two friends were at their home on Park Street when she heard a scream.

When she went into his room, she discovered he had been shot in the face with a BB gun. She drove him to the hospital.

Police said the boy was shot in the left eye and the pellett caused the eye to deflate. The boy was taken to another facility for eye surgery.

The investigation is ongoing.
