UPDATE (9:09 p.m.): S.R. 23 is now back open to traffic, following a two-vehicle collision between a Ford F450 and a Buick LaCrosse.

The driver of the Buick was trapped in the vehicle, having to be extracted by the fire department, and suffered serious injury. They were then transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

the driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Northbound lanes on S.R. 23 are currently closed due to a two-vehicle crash.

It is asked that at this time drivers avoid the area.
