ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- If you take US 31 in St. Joseph County, be prepared for some delays.
Today contractors shut down lanes along the highway for bridge maintenance by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
The work will mean there will be alternating lane closures south of South Bend, near the bridges at Roosevelt Road, State Road 4, and Heston Ditch.
INDOT recommends giving yourself extra time for your commute on US 31 while the work gets underway, so far crews have not said how long they expect the project to take.
