BENTON TWSP, Mich. –- Lake Michigan College hosted a race relations panel on civil and voting rights on Thursday.
The panel highlighted how civil and voting rights looked in the past and how they can compare to today.
"Civil rights affect all of us every day and civil rights are not just things that occur with people of color. They impact everyone. We live in an area that is experiencing all of those same things that happened during the civil rights era," said Charmae Sanders, the Operations Manager for the Start-to-Finish Program.
Panelists, including Sanders, provided stories of their personal involvement and personal accounts in the civil rights movement.
