La Porte mayor declares state of emergency for city due to storm damage

ABC 57

LA PORTE, Ind. -- La Porte Mayor Tom Dermondy declared a state of emergency for the city Friday morning in light of the recent storm damage and thousands of power outages which remain.

Dermody stated via social media that although the city is covered under the county and the governor’s declarations, this local declaration is an effort to maximize the resources and assistance available, as having the city's own helps secure additional support from FEMA for the community.

If you need immediate assistance, call 911.

If you need to be connected to resources, meals, showers, etc., call Indiana’s 211 hotline
