STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- Four kittens are in the care of the Starke County Humane Society after they were found abandoned and soaking wet.

The county sheriff's office says officers were dispatched the evening of August 12 and found a box of four kittens. Officials say they were soaking wet from the rain.

Officials say staff at the dispatch center worked through the night to care for and feed the kittens. Day shift dispatchers took over in the morning.

Arrangements were made to bring the kittens to the humane society.

Officials say the aim is to have them adopted by autumn.
