Keeping kids safe during Halloween

Halloween weekend is here and while candy is a child’s priority, a parent’s main concern is their child’s safety.

Conditions aren’t expected to be ideal Saturday night for those trick-or-treating

Rain and cold temperatures are a strong possibility but the weather is only one of many factors to watch out for.

Police stations in Michiana are asking parents to be aware of sex offenders in the neighborhood.

To avoid stopping at a sex offender’s house on your trick-or-treat route, look up the sex offender registry on your county’s police website.

The South Bend Police Department reminds parents to make sure their children are never trick or treating alone.

If you’re going out during trick-or-treat hours, police also say to exercise extreme caution when driving a vehicle because there will be extra pedestrians on sidewalks and possibly streets.

A lot of kids will be wearing masks, making it harder for them to see when crossing the roads.
