Juvenile who was recovered from Pike Lake Beach in Kosciusko County dies

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources reports that a 5-year-old child who was recovered from Pike Lake Beach in Kosciusko County on Tuesday has passed away.

The child succumbed to their injuries on Friday.

Emergency personnel responded after being alerted that the child went missing while swimming.

Witnesses say they could not locate the child in the swim area at the time of the incident.

Family members eventually located the child near the public swimming pier. The child was unresponsive when the family found them.

Emergency aid was administered to the child, then they were transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital and later airlifted to Fort Wayne.

The incident remains under investigation.
